报告人简介:Blaise Frederick is an Associate Professor in Psychiatry, Harvard Medical School and Associate Biophysicist, McLean Hospital. He is also Director of the Technical and instrumentation Core at the Brain Imaging Center. He received a BS in Physics from Yale University and a PhD in Biophysics from the University of California at Berkeley. His training is in MR physics, and his PhD thesis is entitled“Three Dimensional Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopic Imaging of Sodium lons Using Stochastic Excitation and Oscillating Gradients”. He is the Director of the OMG(opto-magnetic group), and his research is focused on multimodal acquisition and processing for hemodynamic quantitation and physiological denoising of BOLD data.
报告简介:Functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) and Near Infrared Spectroscopy (NIRS) use the differing magnetic and optical properties of oxy and deoxy hemoglobin and tissue to measure changes in blood volume and oxygenation in the human body. We have developed a method to use the relative strength and time delay of these signals in different locations to derive information about blood flow in the brain and in the periphery. This talk will describe the theory behind the technique, explain how it is implemented, and demonstrate several variations of the method, showing how it can be used to measure normal and abnormal blood flow in the body in a variety of applications.
